Format
CSV as in RFC 4180: comma-separated, a header row, CRLF line ends, fields with a comma, quote or line break in double quotes. UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows the accents right.
Several values in one field are separated by a vertical bar (|). Empty means unknown or not applicable. Phone numbers are +32…, ids are belgica’s, the same as in the API and on the pages per court and canton.
Excel with Belgian settings expects a semicolon: open the file with Data → From Text/CSV and pick comma as the delimiter.
JSON and GeoJSON (WGS 84, longitude and latitude) in UTF-8. The canton boundaries are simplified: fine for a map, not for deciding the canton of an address close to a boundary. Use the API for that.

Sources and their terms
- Cantons, arrondissements and which courts serve them: the annex to the Judicial Code (Justel). Official acts are not protected by copyright (art. XI.172 §2 Code of Economic Law).
- Municipalities, REFNIS codes and postal codes: © Statbel, CC BY 4.0. The postal codes come from Statbel’s conversion table from postal codes to REFNIS codes, not from bpost’s list; bpost’s own postal-code files have terms of their own and are not used here.
- Canton boundaries and the locations of the justices of the peace: © National Geographic Institute (NGI/IGN), CC BY 4.0; simplified here.
- Addresses, phone, e-mail and websites of courts, prisons and houses of justice: compiled by belgica from the public websites of the courts (tribunaux-rechtbanken.be), FPS Justice and the Communities. We found no open licence of their own on those sites: credit them as the source and check a detail there before relying on it.
